ALPA Expanding Nationwide to Serve Older Aduts.
ALPA is a low-cost leadership training program for organizations serving older adults. Through a 6-session curriculum current staff and volunteers learn how to increase their own Effectiveness and Promote Client Self-Management.
The program was developed by The Life Planning Network after the 2008 Recession when our members recognized the growing level of anxiety and economic insecurity
among older adults and began looking for a vehicle to help them understand their strengths and find ways to identify community resources to meet their economic and social needs.
ALPA uses a web-based curriculum, developed by national expertsand is facilitated through local learning circles of up to 20 participants.
Central to the process is an individualized field work project for each participant to apply their learning to their jobs and enhance their client’s self-advocacy.
We encourage you to consider how you can help us take the ALPA program to organizations whose staff and clients can benefit from this tested empowerment
approach for addressing the self-management needs of older adults. Your community connections are critical to rolling out ALPA around the country. Learn more at the
