| LPN
is involved in exciting projects to develop professional standards
and to research and document cutting-edge and/or best practices
in the growing field of Third Age Life Planning. Here is a
sampling:
LPN
News
This quarterly newsletter gives members the opportunity to
work in teams to create and share informative writings with
their LPN colleagues and spurs dialogue for future and ongoing
discussion on issues such as “How do we integrate financial
planning with life planning?”, “What is happiness?”,
and “Are the Golden Years working?”.
Please contact us if you would
like a sample issue of our LPN Newsletter.
PRAXIS
This committee is researching, creating and promulgating best
practices and standards for Third Age Life Planning. The committee
has produced a document presenting a rationale for the project,
defining and modeling Third Age life planning, and outlining
process and content competencies. We will expand this project
to include professionals in other parts of the country via
a national conference.
Knowledge Management
This work group determines what knowledge and information
relevant to Third Age life planning we need and how best to
gather and disseminate it. We are currently gathering, compiling,
and storing lists of articles, books, research studies, websites,
organizations and thought leaders, and managing, updating,
and disseminating this information to LPN members.
Our
second phase will move us toward publishing and/or disseminating
this information to a broader audience and establishing dialogue
(through national conferences and other venues) to help us
identify emergent patterns in the field and to create new
ideas through collaboration and partnership.
Curriculum
Development
A Curriculum Committee and Curriculum Design Team worked together
to develop a four-module core curriculum for Life Planning
that has been successfully piloted. The workshop curriculum
is available for presentation by trained LPN members to organizations
and companies. Contact us if
you would like more information.
The work of the Design Team significantly informed Life
Planning for the Third Age: A Design and Resource Guide and
Toolkit, commissioned and published by Civic Ventures
in January 2004, and written by LPN members Meg Newhouse with
Judy Goggin.
