Family Relationships

Relationships with family members transform as children become established adults and as parents or other relatives need care. Couples often need to renegotiate their relationships as one or both leave traditional jobs.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • In what ways do I value my family relationships?
  • What do I do to make time and space for the important people in my life? Am I satisfied or do I want to make changes?
  • Are there unresolved relationship issues that need attention?
  • What do I want my role to be with my grandchildren or other family members who might benefit from my help or guidance?
  • Have I included my partner in discussions about planning for my Third Age and retirement?
  • Does my intimate relationship need renewal and improved communication?
  • Are there ways that I could mark meaningful family events?
  • What legacy might I want to leave to my family?
